ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (January 22, 2015) – McKinley Village, the urban infill neighborhood of 336 homes in the heart of the Sacramento region, has received the National Association of Home Builders’ (“NAHB”) Nationals Gold Award for the best in the nation “On the Boards Community”, defined as a project under construction, but not yet open for sale or rent (https://thenationals.com/2015GoldWinners/#p=70). The award was announced on January 21, 2015 at the NAHB’s annual International Builders’ Show held in Las Vegas. The Nationals awards (https://thenationals.com/index.php), now in its 35th year, recognizes excellence in a variety of categories including architecture and community design.

McKinley Village, a joint venture of The New Home Company, Riverview Capital Investments, and Encore Capital Management, is currently under construction with new home sales currently anticipated to begin in the late fall of 2015.

“This award recognizes that the McKinley Village plan creates a unique sense of place in a prime infill location. We are excited about creating a neighborhood that will offer a range of new home opportunities for people who want to live in town close to jobs, schools, retail locations, restaurants, and a range of other attractions,” said Kevin Carson, President of The New Home Company of Northern California.

“We are pleased that McKinley Village has received national recognition for its design and architecture. This award is a credit to our design team and to the City of Sacramento. We look forward to the vision of McKinley Village becoming a reality in the months ahead,” added Phil Angelides, President of Riverview Capital Investments.

McKinley Village is a 21st Century urban, infill neighborhood located in the East Sacramento community close to downtown Sacramento. McKinley Village combines the character of the surrounding neighborhoods with homes that include modern amenities and leading edge sustainability features. This smart growth community includes tree-lined, pedestrian friendly streets and homes with front porches; high quality home designs with broad architectural diversity; intimate urban parks and a community garden; a unique arts in public places program; a neighborhood recreation center and pool; and bike and pedestrian connections through the neighborhood, to and from East Sacramento and Midtown, and to Sutter’s Landing Park and the American River Parkway.

The Sacramento City Council approved McKinley Village at its April 29, 2014 meeting. The project represents an investment of more than $160 million that is creating more than 1,400 jobs and over $200 million of economic benefit for the local economy. Site construction began at McKinley Village in July 2014.
